In Geography, the girls in Year 3 have been learning about Fairtrade. As part of this they baked gingerbread to raise money to bring Fairtrade to more farmers and workers. Our support means they can challenge unfair trade and ensure farmers get to a place where they can feed and educate their children and look forward to an independent future.
There are many different spices in gingerbread that come from far away, such as ginger from Sri Lanka and nutmeg from India, and they are often grown on small family farms, by farmers who rely on their spices to make a living. Fairtrade is helping those farmers to make a more secure living.
The girls first presented an assembly about Fairtrade and then worked brilliantly together to bake, decorate and sell their gingerbread to the school.
I am pleased to say we raised £30 for this great cause. Many thanks to all those who bought our biscuits!
