The Prep School girls have been celebrating UK Parliament Week 2019, this week. We started off with an assembly from Year 4, explaining what Parliament actually is. We learned that they debate and vote on important issues and ask questions to challenge the government on things that affect us all.
On Wednesday we held a debate in the hall and showed our passion and views on issues that affect us, such as the need for homework and even whether we should be rewarded for walking to school!
We held a vote just like they do for elections, this week! We voted on a new Enrichment Club and had an outstanding turnout of 98%, with just one spoiled vote! Photography was the winning idea with a 41% share of the vote.
On Thursday we also welcomed Mr Mike Gapes (former MP/candidate in the forthcoming elections) into school for a Q&A session. We put lots of important questions to him about issues that affect us in school, at home and the world around us. We were very impressed with his answers and really appreciate the work he does for our community!
