Reception, Year 1 and 2 have been learning about instructions in English. The children told Ma’am the instructions on how to make a jam sandwich. We then made our own Jam sandwiches. Once the sandwiches were deliciously gobbled up, the children sequenced pictures in order and wrote the instructions down.
The Reception children have been learning to double numbers and find half of a quantity. The worked with a partner to share half of the sweets to decorate their cookie.
The Year 1 and 2 children have been learning to work out halves and quarters of a quantity. Ma’am put the children into groups of four. The children then had to have a quarter of the different amounts of sweets for their cookie.
Bee bot investigation
The Reception children had fun playing with the bee bots. They had been learning about directions in Maths. They programmed the bee bots to follow a path to each other. Using the forwards, backwards, right and left turn buttons.
In Science, Reception, Year 1 and 2 are learning about ‘Plants’. Our class went to Valentine’s Park and made a collage of ‘Wild Plants’. We planted some runner beans and French beans in the soil and left them in the Sun to grow. Everyday someone waters the bean plants. Our bean plants are growing taller and taller. In English, we are learning to write instructions. Instructions help people to learn or do things. Our class wrote down instructions and then made jam sandwiches. We spread the butter and jam, folded our bread and then enjoyed our sandwiches. Yummy!
