Physical Education

'Pupils perform well in tournaments, when compared with many of the larger schools they compete against' - Independent Schools Inspectorate February 2022

Physical Education is a thriving department and the hub of school life.  Pupils from Reception to Year 11 participate in a wide range of activities ranging from creativity, team sports and individual sports.

Physical development is about improving skills of coordination, control, manipulation and movement. It helps children gain confidence in what they can do and it enables them to feel the positive benefits of being healthy and active.  Effective physical development helps the children develop a positive sense of well being.  Physical education develops pupils’ physical competence and their ability to use this to perform in a range of activities.  It provides opportunities for them to be creative, competitive and to face up to different challenges as individuals and in teams.

Pupils in the Prep School participate in gymnastics, dance, games, athletics, tennis, cricket, and rounders.  Year 5 & 6 learn to swim every Friday at Fulwell Cross leisure Centre.  All pupils enjoy their sport three times a week and are taught by experienced PE specialists.
