On Tuesday 13th October 2020, our Reception Class and Years 1 and 2 had a ‘Mini Sports Day’ event which involved working together in their House groups and participating in various races. We highly value our House system as it promotes the ethos of the ‘Park School Way’ which provides the principles and framework for our whole school community. Events such as this enable us to maintain our House system despite the restrictions imposed due to COVID19.
Over the last few weeks, these Year Groups have been working on their summer curriculum activities which, unfortunately, they missed due to the pandemic. As part of the curriculum they have also learnt about some inspirational people: famous athletes who have won many medals due to their hard work and commitment and who have inspired many children and adults to take up sport. The girls learnt about Jessica Ennis and Usain Bolt.
To finish off the summer sports curriculum, we decided combine their learning to create a fun event. They all participated so well. They took part in two obstacle races using bean bags and hoops, a relay race, the egg and spoon race and did some jumping and throwing. Wanstead House won and Cranbrook and Valentines came joint second.
Well done to our sports superstars!
