Park School for Girls took part in the Make Your Mark 2020 – which was offering our pupils the opportunity to place their vote on important issues locally and nationally. This then enables Redbridge Youth Council to take the top three most voted issues to UK Youth Parliament this year. We had an assembly and the girls voted online for the issues they felt strongly about.
“Make Your Mark is the national consultation for young people across the UK to select vote on the future campaigns. This year the consultation was online and nationally 180,000 young people took part. In Redbridge 6,426 young people voted, which is 20.64% of the population making Redbridge once again 1st in London for population turnout and 3rd overall in the UK – well done Redbridge. There were 15 Redbridge schools and centres, who took part in the consultation and the 3 highest local issues for Redbridge have been voted as: Homelessness, Domestic Violence and Access to Broadband.
The 3 national campaigns; Free University, Support Our Mental Health and Take Action on the Climate Emergency: Stop Plastic. See the full result report here. 35 young people voted at Park School for Girls. This is a phenomenal achievement and we really appreciate you encouraging everyone to vote in what has been a very difficult year, thank you once again and of course the young people who voted.”
