GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND VISIT

GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND VISITOn Wednesday morning, for 8EN’s assembly, Pat who is a volunteer Puppy trainer for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association came along with a beautiful guide dog in training.

Pat gave an interesting and very informative talk about the procedures of training guide dogs and the work that goes into this, including raising and socialising puppies from as young as seven weeks old! Students also took part in asking questions.

The guide dog was extremely well behaved and interacted happily with students and teachers.

After the presentation concluded, Senior and Prep students were given the opportunity to pet and have a quick but very enjoyable interaction with the dog, who was extremely friendly and seemed just as enthusiastic as us, though he remained very calm and once again, extremely well behaved.

We had an amazing experience and so, on behalf of year 8 and everyone at Park, thank you to Pat for coming in for this presentation and of course, a huge thank you to our teachers for organising this fantastic experience.
