FORGING LINKS WITH THE COMMUNITY

We are really pleased to have begun a relationship with our local food bank, based at Jubilee Church, Granville Road, Ilford. It really could not be more local as it is probably less than three minutes’ walk from school!

Year 6 made the first approach today and delivered food and toiletries donated by staff and students. The ladies at the food bank very kindly took time to explain all of the sorting that has to be done with the donations. They have to weigh every item they receive, then sort them by use by or sell by dates. Goods have to be sorted into categories before the staff even begin the process of distributing to their clients. This one food bank alone supports approximately 60 clients per week.

We were really pleased when the staff at the food bank offered our pupils the opportunity to go along and help with the various sorting processes. The girls are really looking forward to doing this and seeing how a food bank operates.

In keeping with the ethos of the Park School Way, our aim is to continue to support the food bank with regular donations and for different Year Groups to be given the opportunity to be involved. We are hoping the staff, students and parents will support us by donating non-perishable foods, toiletries and household items such as kitchen roll, toilet roll etc.

If you would like to donate, please contact the School Office.
