Every Tuesday after school- supervised by two Year 11 students, Laila  and Noor – a number of Year 10 students have been attending the Park School debating society. The debates are organised according to parliamentary rules, which means that the speakers have protected time at the start and end of their speeches but are encouraged to accept interventions from their opponents at other times. The topics discussed has been wide- ranging, including whether voting should be made compulsory and whether the sale of human organs should be permitted. It has been good to see the students’ confidence and proficiency increase over the weeks and we aim to arrange some inter- school debating activities in the near future. New members are always welcome.
